David Picket has been responsible for Gotham’s real estate development division since becoming President of the Gotham Organization in 1998. Under his direction, Gotham has expanded its holdings of high-end, luxury residential buildings in New York City and its development of urban retail centers in the Northeast. Mr. Picket’s strategic vision for developing in historically underserved markets continues to help shape the direction of the Urban Strategic Partners model. He was one of the first developers to capitalize on the resurgence of the multi-family housing market in New York City during the mid-1990s, building more than 1,500 units of new housing while recognizing the untapped potential of the Midtown West neighborhood. His developments have included several award-winning projects including The Nicole, Atlas New York, The Foundry, New Gotham and Gotham West - Manhattan's largest affordable housing development.
Prior to joining Gotham, Mr. Picket was a banker in the real estate division of Citicorp and a real estate attorney for what is now Bryan Cave LLP.
Mr. Picket received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his Juris Doctor from Columbia University. Mr. Picket sits on the Board of Directors of Continuum Health Partners, is Chairman of the Leadership Committee of the Associates of Beth Israel Medical Center, and is a member of the Cornell University Counsel. He has held multiple leadership positions for the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) as well as the Realty Foundation of New York and the Citizens Housing Planning Council. In addition to his professional affiliations, Mr. Picket is actively involved in numerous charitable causes including the Jewish Community Relations Council, the Harlem YMCA and Ten O’clock Classics - where he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
